A Week in the Villa (Women Only !)

Staying in a hand-picked Insider’s Italy villa is always an exceptional experience.

Your own villa means space to fully unpack and put away your suitcases,  and immerse for several days or a week or more into living all’Italiana.

Your own villa means a garden and an excellent kitchen for those who love to cook, or for those who love to drink wine and watch others cook.

From April to October, most of our favorite villas have lovely pools — and what is nicer than swimming at the beginning or the end of an Italian day ?

But our winter time villas are exceptionally cozy and comfortable.

All of the villas in our Insider’s Italy portfolio are managed directly by their owner. Meeting your villa’s owners —  many of whom will bring you their own wine, or garden produce or olive oil or will invite you for dinner — adds an additional element of depth and pleasure to your trip.

For rejuvenation, celebration or simply for the deep pleasure of companionship, one special joy is an all-women villa rental.  No husbands or male partners allowed — only women.  Sisters, or sisters of the heart.  Partners. Mothers and daughters. Wives. College friends, school friends, childhood friends.

Women – those whose intellectual and emotional support keep women together.

We’ve planned such rentals many times, and our travelers have loved the experience so much that they have wanted to repeat it in another location — or sometimes return to the same villa.

Most recently, a New England client, freshly returned from the experience, wrote me this :

“Our group of eight high-powered, take-charge, opinionated women fit in immediately with the villa’s layout (some people were meeting their roommates for the first time) and its location. What some had thought would be a drawback—“isn’t it rather remote?”—was what caused us the most delight. The 360-degree views across the Val d’Orcia—at sunrise, sunset, in sunshine, and in cloudy weather (the absolute best for photography)—made it hard to leave the villa…until we remembered that everywhere we went, we were smack in the middle of those cypress-lined drives that so define Tuscany.

And oh the joy of traveling with women !

Women who compromise, collaborate, and cooperate. You should definitely encourage no-husband-allowed getaways. 

Our chef was absolutely charming and one of the best decisions we made. He handled all of our many dietary restrictions with aplomb and made enough for at least two meals (if not more) each time he came. Our numerous “good cooks” hung over him, watching what he was doing and asking questions (no problem for Chef). And what a rare pleasure to have someone else clean up!”

Seattle and Pennsylvania clients, six women including three sisters, called their experience “nirvana, from the views in the morning that greet you to the scent of the lush lavender growing around the pool, in full bloom, and that wafts over you as you swim.”

Five friends wrote : “We just wanted to write and say buon giorno!  This is the view out of our window overlooking the hills of Tuscany.

Venice was beautiful. Florence was incredible, and all the art you so carefully planned for us to see was inspiring as ever.  But the highlight for all of us is relaxing in this amazing villa.”
