Primavera alla Landriana

We spent all of yesterday at the Landriana garden fair and horticultural display. This four day arcadia, at Tor San Lorenzo, is the spring-time event that every Roman who gardens looks forward to most. The Landriana gardens, designed by Lavinia Taverna and Russel Page, are the splendid backdrop to the displays of ancient Italian plum varieties, 19 types of basil, 17 kinds of figs, pelargoniums, olive, flowering citrus trees and so much more.   Displays were consistently beautiful, and plants in superb condition. Over 100 specialized growers and horticultural exhibitors were on hand, this from many different regions of Italy, and all eager to discuss their products : a tremendous treasure trove resource for those who love to garden.  Only reluctantly, at dusk, did we leave this magical event – with a borrowed wheelbarrow filled with the most lovely new plants for the terrace.
