The Italian Foods of June

As you are there, and I am here, I want to share with you the foods of June in central Italy.

In a country that is not a country, of course, but an amalgam of thousands of provinces, traditions, seed banks and palates, there is endless variety. This short photo essay will I hope not only delight you but help you imagine some of the wonders that await when you visit next June.

The final three images are the succulent capers that grow along ancient Rome’s Aurelian walls; an Italian child’s favorite thing to do with cherries; and what I am about to eat now.

Buon appetito !
